Web Bulletin Boards Changes
Note: This news item is for IU's central web server (Veritas/Champion) account holders who have installed Web Bulletin Boards in their accounts.
Changes to Web Bulletin Boards have been implemented in order to prevent its use by email spammers.
If you have not enabled email distribution within WebBBS (by saying No to Automatic E-mail Notification option) or you require username/password authentication to WebBBS, you will not be affected. For more information on Automatic E-mail Notification option, please see http://webmaster.iu.edu/tool_guide_info/bbs.shtml#d.
If you have a WebBBS installation that has open public access, users will no longer be able to subscribe to the list or receive email notification of replies to messages. If you require username/password authentication via .htaccess, this email functionality will remain in place.
