The IT Security and Policy Office (ITSPO) is announcing
a new service regarding reduced-cost SSL server certificates. This new
service, the IU Certificate Authority (IUCA), will issue Thawte SSL
server certificates to the university community at a significantly

- Changes for Champion accounts using MySQL
(Triton/Callisto)
Champion web servers will undergo an IP address
change on June 22nd. Due to this change, MySQL users on Champion need to
modify their MySQL user tables so that any entries that reference the
current IP subnet range 134.68.122.% also targets the new IP subnet range

- CAS Validation Protocol Changes
This news item is for IU's central web server account holders who are integrating CAS on their accounts.
In order to maintain appropriate security, the CAS validation protocol is being changed.
This will require an immediate modification to applications you are using to integrate CAS.

- FTP Retirement on Veritas
FTP has been retired on Veritas on May 15, 2006. You are no longer be able to use FTP. You need to use a Secure FTP (SFTP)
client to publish.

- Time Zone Change and Central Web
Services
During the month of March, all the central web services
will be completing system time zone changes from East-Indiana to Eastern.
This change is necessary to accommodate Indiana's recognition of Daylight

- New PHP module sets are installed on Veritas
PHP has been upgraded on Veritas to include the following new programming modules:
DOM XML, XML/XSLT, SOAP, mbstring

Old versions of Transform are scheduled to be removed from the system on January 30, 2006.
After that date, the only version of Transform that will be available is Transform 3.0.

- IU Search to switch to Google
To improve the Indiana University search engine, University Information
Technology Services (UITS), has licensed a Google Search Appliance
(G-5005) with support for two million pages and will transition search
services to the search appliance on Saturday, December 17, 2005.

If your account is currently enabled
for FrontPage Server Extensions, you should be sure to convert any components that rely upon
FrontPage Server Extensions to an alternate method as these functions will not work after January 30, 2006.

UITS is pleased to announce a reduction in the cost of the Web Virtual Host Name service. Beginning July 1, 2005,
the Virtual Host set up fee of $250.00 was eliminated entirely.
In addition, the annual fee of $250.00 decreased to $125.00 per unique name.

- Inbound email will be turned off on Champion On April 4th
On Monday, April 4th, inbound email will be turned off on Champion. After that has
been done, any email sent to Champion will bounce and will not be
