Central Web Service News - Fall 2007
Colleagues,Exciting growth and change are underway as the underpinnings of the IU Web are moved to the new Linux platform.
Progress this summer included establishing a new virtual host protocol and moving central web servers behind load balancers, greatly enhancing server traffic management.
With the infrastructure migration moving forward, Web accounts will begin migration this fall. We will have more news on this coming soon.
Has web account space has been an issue for you in the past? Reconsider those ideas. Migrated Web accounts will be allocated one gigabyte with additional space available for a nominal annual cost.
A project is underway to find an appropriate web content management system
(WCMS) product and implement the product this fall as a pilot. The primary
objective of the pilot is to identify a WCMS that will make managing web
sites on IU's central web servers more effective and efficient.
