Web Migration Timeline Clarification
The following notice was sent to owners/contacts of Veritas and Champion accounts on Friday, March 7, 2008.Colleagues,
We have received some questions about the web migration plans announced earlier this week. We hope this clarification will help.
From Monday March 3 to Monday March 17, web sites will be functioning normally in production while they are also being tested in the new Linux environment.
Please take this opportunity to test all aspects of your IU web site in the new Linux environment and provide feedback to the IU Webmaster if you discover problems.
After this two week testing phase, we will invite you to migrate your web server account permanently to the new environment. You will decide when during the migration period your account is ready to be migrated. Note: A site can't be officially migrated to the new Linux server and removed from the old server until after March 17.
Changes made to the files on the current production servers will be copied over nightly to the new Linux servers unless you take action to prevent this. Changes made on the Linux servers will not be synchronized to the production servers. [Note: New files created on Webserve will be deleted overnight unless modifications are made to the synchronization settings for an account. For details on this, see: Synchronization Process.]
Please see the IU Webmaster site for documentation on the new web servers, and steps for updating your site as necessary:
