II. For Mac
This KB document, In Mac OS and Mac OS X, what secure FTP clients are available?, tells you what SFTP clients are available for Mac and where you can download them.
If you are currently using Dreamweaver before MX 2004, HomeSite, FrontPage, or other publishing tools that rely on FTP, you can keep using these to design your pages. However, you need to save your files to a directory on your hard drive, and then use an SFTP client to transfer your files to the server.
For information on how to save your files (set up a new web folder) to a directory on your hard drive for FrontPage, Dreamweaver before MX 2004, and Netscape Composer, please see this KB article at http://kb.iu.edu/data/akrd.html.
For information on how to use SFTP, please see How to use SFTP.
3. Use SFTP with Dreamweaver MX 2004/Dreamweaver 8 and Contribute 3
Dreamweaver MX 2004/Dreamweaver 8 and Contribute 3 support secure FTP (SFTP) and you can upload your files directly to the server. To use the built-in SFTP capabilities of Dreamweaver and Contribute, you need to configure the client to use SFTP.
Please see How to configure Dreamweaver MX 2004 to use with SFTP for Windows for information on how to configure Dreamweaver for Windows and How to configure Dreamweaver MX 2004 to use with SFTP for Mac for information on how to configure Dreamweaver for Mac.
